Or Alpaca face? Anyway, this is a quick scribble based off a photo from my 2014 Peru trek...I really need to draw some more from that trip.

Roller Derby Girl

This month's character design challenge is Roller Derby.

Presenting The Great Wall of Chyna!
Chyna is a blocker from the derby team, The Pain Killers. A squad made up of nurses from the local hospitals, dentists & medical centres. A veteran of the team, she bears the scars on her face from one of her most oldest incidents, facial gravel burn and a blind left eye.
Usually the nurses end up seeing to their own injuries, allowing for a quicker recovery, and Chyna is eager to get back into the action after her most recent rumble.

Here are my concept sketches.

Wonder Women Series: Rey

I don't really have to explain why I chose to do Rey in this series. All I will say is that I adore her and I loved The Force Awakens.

Wonder Women Series: Catwoman

Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman from Batman Returns is the only Catwoman for me. The costume Tim Burton designed is just amazing and I wish we could have seen even more of Pfeiffer as Catwoman in another film...but we got Batman Forever instead.

Here is the rough drawing & inked line.

Wonder Women Series: Michonne

One of the three characters on the Walking Dead I actually still like. The rest can just go throw themselves into a big well of bloated zombies.

Irazu: My 2012 Animated Pilot & Short Film

In 2012 I produced and directed an animated pilot called Irazu.
The idea was originally concepted during my honors year of Traditional Animation at Griffith University in 2006.
Irazu follows the adventures of geeky kid Pequita and her kooky sloth friend Irazu.

It was VERY close to being green lit for a series but then...*poof!* Last minute change of mind. So I have put it up here for someone to enjoy other than myself, because people worked hard to make it. Produced in Australia with Canadian/New Zealand voice talent.

If you would like to see more artwork for the development, check it out here: www.adelekthomas.com/tv-pilot

I would like to thank everyone who was involved in this production, especially my partner, Maik Hempel and
Cartoon Network Asia.

Irazu, Pequita and this pilot remain the property of Adele K. Thomas. This is a continual project, visit my blog or my website for updates.

Melbourne City FC Mascots

At the start of the year I was working on some character design for a project I couldn't talk about till launch day.
I had a lovely surprise when I opened the match day program recently, with the launch of the Melbourne City (Aleague Soccer team under Manchester City group) FC's City Kids Mascots.

I was hired to take the new mascots from their costume form and bring them to life as illustrations. Im happy with how they came out and was able to inject my style into them. I was surprised to see the head of the boy changed to match my new design. I love them in their football program context. I hope they have a long future at the club, who Im a foundation member of and thoroughly support. Thanks to those who hired me; The City Group, Gemba and Artisan. Go City!

New Work From Earlier This Year

Earlier this year I did a "hundreth" redesign of my characters and story based around my 2012 pilot just to freshen it and my body of work up. We also wrote a script and storyboarded it, which you can see below.
I have also updated my website and Im glad I finally get to show off some of my 2012 pilot stuff, since the option has expired. If you would like to see artwork from the original pilot and conceptual work from all the years beforehand leading up to it, you can check it all out at my new website here and here. I will be uploading a video of my favourite scenes from the pilot soon, so stay tuned!
